At Marsden preparation for Scholarship may occur in some regular classes, through tutorials outside of class or through online material generated by your teacher. A Scholarship candidate needs to show initiative, an ability to pursue independent research and a true engagement with the subject. Preparation for Scholarship should light some personal fires, generate curiosity and a desire to read around set material. It should be rewarding.

Once again, Marsden students have showcased their academic prowess with outstanding results in the 2023 New Zealand Scholarship examinations. A remarkable 27 Scholarships were awarded to Marsden candidates, including a coveted Top Subject Scholarship Award, two Oustanding Scholar Awards, and five Outstanding Scholarships.
NCEA combines internal assessment throughout the year with external examinations in November. Students are offered approximately 100 credits at Year 13. 80 credits are required to achieve NCEA Level 3, 20 of which are automatically drawn from the Level 2 qualification. To achieve University Entrance students must attain NCEA Level 3.
