Marsden was filled with joy, hope and excitement as new staff, students and their whānau were formally welcomed to the Marsden community with a pōwhiri on Monday. It was incredible to see the auditorium overflowing, reflecting the significant growth in our school community.
Deputy Head Girl Arabella Allwood welcomed newcomers with a stirring karanga, while kaikaranga Ms Sarah Molisa responded on behalf of the manuhiri (visitors). The occasion was further enriched by Marsden parents Carl Allwood (Arabella's father) and Reg Namana delivering whaikōrero.
The pōwhiri celebrated the Marsden spirit of connection and whanaungatanga, bringing everyone together as we embraced the start of a new chapter. Our annual pōwhiri on the first day of term is always a special moment for the whole school, leaving everyone filled with anticipation for an exciting year ahead.
