Marsden students have once again proven their academic prowess, achieving an impressive 28 New Zealand Scholarships in the 2024 examinations.

 

These outstanding results reflect not only their dedication and perseverance, but also our school's tradition of academic excellence. True to Marsden’s motto, Ad Summa – Aim for the Highest, these students have embraced the challenge of Scholarship examinations, striving for and attaining exceptional success.

 

Among the top achievers, several students distinguished themselves with multiple Scholarships. 2024 Proxime Accessit Sophie Zhang, Eva Roberts, Lillian Hillyer Magoffin and Sage Pettus each secured three Scholarships across various subjects, with Sage being awarded an Outstanding Scholarship for Geography. Additionally, Arlo Keating, Nishka Parekh, Eliza Taylor and 2024 Dux Kate Yu each earned two Scholarships.

 

Marsden students excelled across a diverse range of disciplines. Chemistry led the way with four Scholarships, while Biology, Classical Studies and Statistics each had three recipients. English, French, Health & Physical Education, History and Painting were also strong areas of success, with two Scholarships awarded in each subject. Notably, Year 12 students Jessica Cheals and Aubane Farcy earned Scholarships in Statistics and French, respectively. This significant achievement in Year 12 reflects their exceptional ability and Marsden’s supportive academic environment, which encourages students to extend themselves beyond expectations.

The New Zealand Scholarship examinations are among the most challenging academic assessments in the country, requiring exceptional critical thinking, subject mastery, and the ability to apply knowledge in complex contexts. Marsden’s continued success in these rigorous exams highlights our commitment to academic excellence.

 

Recipients of the New Zealand Scholarship awards also receive financial support when they enrol in full-time tertiary education or training within New Zealand, providing an added incentive for students to challenge themselves at the highest academic level.
