This week, we gathered for a beautiful Year 13 Induction Service to honour our Class of 2025 as they step into their final year at Marsden.
The morning began with a special communion service in the Chapel, where Chaplain Mrs Sarah King spoke about the importance of authentic service, both big and small, and how every individual plays a valued role within our community. Following the service, students and staff shared a breakfast before moving into a traditional Marsden assembly.
A heartfelt rendition of Brother, Sister, Let Me Serve You set the tone for the occasion, reinforcing the themes of service, leadership, and unity. Our Head Girl, Tiantian Ren, stood proudly in the school korowai as she spoke about the strength of their year group and their commitment to bringing unity, collaboration, and Marsden spirit to everything they do. She drew inspiration from the whakataukī He waka eke noa – we are all in this together – and our school motto, Ad Summa.

During the assembly, our Senior Leadership Team was honoured with beautiful ula (floral necklaces) gifted by the Lui-Fa’i family,
Head Girl, Tiantian Ren’s speech captured the spirit of the moment, reminding her peers that Year 13 is not just about looking back but also embracing the opportunities ahead. She acknowledged the unwavering support of teachers, parents, and caregivers, whose dedication has guided them to this milestone.

Principal Paula Wells reflected on the significance of leadership in her address, reminding students that leadership is not solely defined by a title or badge but by the integrity, service, and example they set for others. She encouraged the Class of 2025 to embrace their individual strengths, remain true to their values, and leave a lasting leadership legacy through their actions.
As we look ahead to the year, we are excited to see this exceptional group of wāhine toa lead our kura with strength, heart, and a deep sense of purpose. Ad Summa!
