Outstanding Scholarship Results

Once again, Marsden students have showcased their academic prowess with outstanding results in the 2023 New Zealand Scholarship examinations. A remarkable 27 Scholarships were awarded to Marsden candidates, including a coveted Top Subject Scholarship Award, two Oustanding Scholar Awards, and five Outstanding Scholarships.

 

Of the 27 Scholarships awarded, 21 were gained by five Marsden students. Louisa Boyer, 2023 Proxime Accessit, was named the top student in New Zealand for her results in Classical Studies, while also gaining an Outstanding Scholar Award, an Outstanding Scholarship in French, and Scholarships in English and Biology. Chloe Sim, 2023 Dux, clinched an Outstanding Scholar Award, two Outstanding Scholarships in Biology and Statistics, alongside Scholarships in English, Chemistry and Health & Physical Education. Valerie Howe, a Year 12 student, showcased her brilliance with an Outstanding Scholarship in Biology, coupled with Scholarships in Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics. Sifan Huang and Tilly Rumball-Smith earned eight Scholarships between them across multiple subjects including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Statistics, Economics, English, Economics and Classical Studies.

 

Caroline Jones, 2023 Head Girl, Sarah Guiney, 2023 Deputy Head Girl, Sophie McClintock, Liliana O'Connell, Emily Wong and Year 12 student Milliann Lim further contributed to Marsden's success, earning Scholarships in History, Classical Studies, Chemistry, English, Biology and French respectively.

 

The New Zealand Scholarship assessments are renowned for their rigorous nature, specifically tailored to challenge the most adept students in each subject. To attain the prestigious New Zealand Scholarship, candidates must exhibit profound understanding of their chosen subjects, demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills, and illustrate the ability to apply their knowledge to intricate scenarios.

 

These outstanding results not only reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, but also underscore the excellence of the academic programmes and teaching staff at Marsden. Furthermore, the Scholarships serve as a financial reward for the successful students as they embark on their tertiary education journey.
