Valerie Howe makes history
Valerie Howe, at the age of 15, has made history by becoming the youngest medical student ever admitted to The University of Sydney.
Valerie graduated from Marsden in Year 12 2023, and was the winner of the Deputy Principal's Award for Outstanding Achievement at Level 3 and the Dr Rina Moore Award for Excellence in Science at our senior prize giving. She also gained an Outstanding Scholarship in Biology, coupled with Scholarships in Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics.
Scoring a perfect Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.95, Valerie's stellar academic performance has earned her acceptance into both Medicine and Dentistry. She has also secured a spot on the Double Degree Medicine Programme (DDMP). This exclusive programme, which admits only 30 students annually, is renowned for its rigorous curriculum and comprehensive approach to medical education. Valerie was also awarded the prestigious Dalyell Scholarship and the University of Sydney Chancellor's Award worth $10,000 annually.
