Year 13 Induction Service

On Monday 19 February, we celebrated our Year 13 cohort with a special breakfast, Communion Service and Induction Assembly. It was wonderful to have whanau join us as we acknowledged our Year 13 students as leaders of the school for 2024.

As Principal Paula Wells presented Year 13 students with their badges, she emphasised the significance of their roles as student leaders, highlighting that their leadership is not merely a title, but a commitment to uphold the school’s values and serve as exemplary figures for their peers.

2024 Head Girl Emily Allen was honoured with the Marsden korowai and presented with the Gay Collins Rose Bowl. Additionally, Sports Captain Phoebe Gray received the Isobel Campbell Cup, and Head of Performing Arts Georgia Burley received the Jennifer Button Salver.

Reflecting on the journey ahead, Emily Allen shared her thoughts, invoking the whakatauki ‘He waka eke noa', which means 'a canoe which we are all in with no exceptions'. Drawing parallels to the school being the waka, students the rowers, and teachers and parents the paddles, Emily emphasised the importance of unity and teamwork and acknowledged the support of those in our community that help to propel students forward.

Year 13 have collectively determined that they want to be a year group known for their energy and commitment to school spirit, and we wish them all the best in achieving this goal.
