Rowing the Whanganui River
While many Marsden students were enjoying their last week of holidays with sleep-ins and downtime, a keen bunch of 23 embarked on 6 days of rowing fun on the Whanganui River.
A few standout highlights from the camp were getting the novices out on their longest-ever row and our returning rowers becoming leaders and mentors. Coach Jamie Fitzgerald also mixed it up with some cross-training, including a dash up local icon Durie Hill and Memorial Tower, with a new record set by Emma in Year 8. There was also a fun splash ‘n’ dash mini regatta that had the whole squad mixed up into boats with bragging rights on the line, and finally, a bunch of our novies tried their luck in the teeny tiny single!
All involved enjoyed a great camp; huge thanks to our parent helpers who wrangled and nurtured the squad over the week.
