Marsden rowing crews do well at first big regatta
Marsden rowing coaches were really happy with our crews' first big hit out at the AON Junior Regatta at Lake Karapiro over the weekend. Despite trying conditions on Saturday our rowers made six B and two A finals.
What a change on Sunday with perfect rowing conditions for our two U15 4x to race. Marsden 1 (Imogen, Thea, Charlie, Katie & Isabella) came second in the A final, and Marsden 2 (Grace, Paige, Maddi, Devon & Kate) finished 7th in the B final.
Seniors Grace and Tilly placed 5th in the U18 2x A final, a great result given it was only their second-ever race in this boat. Grace followed this up in the U18 singles finishing 5th in her B final.
Marsden’s last race of the regatta was in the U15 2x. We had three crews in the B final, and they pushed each other all the way down the course to finish 1, 2, and 3! The race commentator commented that they should rename the race to ‘Samuel Marsden U15 2x’ given the strong placings!
Congratulations on these fantastic results everyone, and huge thanks to the coaching team and parent helpers; we couldn't have done it without you!
