
Celebration of achievement
On Wednesday 6 December Marsden celebrated the achievements of our 2023 Year 11–13 students with a special prize giving at Pipitea Marae.
Congratulations to our 2023 Samuel Marsden Collegiate School Dux Chloe Sim who, as well as receiving top academic results, is a stunning communicator and empathetic leader. Our Proxime Accessit (runner-up to the Dux) is Louisa Boyer. The Kindness Cup, our highest character award, went to Penelope Favel.

Zoe During Award for Social Justice The Zoe During award was donated in the memory of old girl Zoe During who attended Marsden during the 1930’s and was posthumously inducted into the Marsden Hall of Fame. It recognises Zoe’s activities in the area of social justice. It is awarded to a student who is prepared to be outspoken and take action in alleviating suffering and inequality. |

Jean Gilmer Award The Jean Gilmer Award, originally set up in 1959, was reinstated this year by the Old Girls’ Association in memory of past student Jean Gilmer. Awarded for a hand painted or drawn scientific illustration, the award links the past and the historical recording of observations by scientists with our current teaching and learning practice of collaborations between Science and Visual arts. |
