Gold Award presented at Government House
Former Head Girl, Leandra Fiennes, was presented with her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award by His Excellency, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, at Government House on Saturday.
Commenting before the presentation Leandra said "The Award pushed me out of my comfort zone and enabled me to do more than I thought possible. It's worth sacrificing weekends to tramping and the Sunday mornings to volunteering because of the amazing people you meet. The friendships and memories forged on the Adventurous Journeys, from a two day tramp in the rain for Bronze, to the achievement of completing four days for Gold, are some aspects which made the experience so rewarding.
