Students win Welcome Home competition

Our Year 9s entered a competition run by the Anglican Life Trust to make an interactive map for refugees and we are happy to report that Samantha George-Neich and Grace Masseurs won the secondary category with Molly McCalman runner-up.

Called the 'Welcome Home' competition, students had to create an interactive map to welcome refugees to their area, showing places of information and interest.

The judges were impressed by the standard of entries and said: "There was tight competition for our winners and runner-ups. The top entries included features such as tips on catching buses, insight into their own experiences as a refugee, personalised skateboard tutorials to use at the local skate-park, and even how to translate the map. Overall they demonstrated excellent perception into the needs of refugees and migrants, and how their communities could meet these needs and offer a 'home away from home'.

Great work girls!
