Susie Moncur is our dedicated school nurse, providing essential nursing support and general first aid to both students and staff.

With 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Susie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Her extensive background includes working in the United Kingdom, Auckland, and Wellington, where she has served in various capacities from being a staff nurse in hospitals to managing wards and educating other nurses. This is her first role in a school setting, and she is excited to embrace this new challenge.

Susie's vibrant personality and commitment to promoting holistic health make her a valued member of the school community. Her approach to nursing is deeply influenced by her belief in the strong connection between physical and mental health, and she is dedicated to supporting the hauora of everyone at the school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing
• Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing (Victoria University of Wellington)
• Post Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing (King’s College London)

Experience

Susie's two-decade-long nursing career has equipped her with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of patient care. She has not only provided hands-on nursing care but has also taken on leadership roles and contributed to the education of future nurses.

Personal interests

Susie enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends outside of her professional life. She loves watching her children participate in sports and other activities, fostering a fun and relaxed environment at home where her children can feel comfortable inviting their friends over. Susie is also passionate about physical and mental health, emphasising the importance of regular exercise for overall wellbeing. She enjoys cooking and eating nutritious food and sharing her enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle with others.

Health Centre

The nurse at Marsden works in a collaborative environment with the Deans, Counsellor and Chaplain to promote the health and happiness of students and staff.

The clinic is at the end of the corridor in Marsden House and hours are 9:30am to 2:00pm every school day. 

The Health Centre at Marsden provides:

• Acute assessment of students and staff at Marsden when they experience injury or sickness
• Liaises with Regional Public Health, Bee Healthy, Evolve and other health support agencies on behalf of students
• Works closely with students and their families with ongoing medical conditions (where this is sought)
• Makes referrals to other agencies and health practitioners including GP as needed
• Provides ongoing health education to students and staff
• Is ACC accredited (so can complete ACC claims for students)

All services to students and staff are confidential.  There are exceptions to this confidentiality, primarily related to situations where the immediate health or safety of the person is at risk.
