Teaching Role and Responsibilities
Shannon is a Year 6 teacher at Marsden, where she takes pride in guiding her students on their learning journeys. With a focus on creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment, she helps her students grow academically and personally, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
Education and experience
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Education. She also completed a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching and a Te Reo Certificate, reflecting her commitment to professional development and her passion for supporting students’ learning.
Shannon trained to become a teacher in Wellington before working at Napier Intermediate School, where she taught Year 7 students. Her experience with different age groups and learning environments has shaped her approach to teaching, allowing her to connect with her students in meaningful ways.
Shannon is passionate about dance education and loves teaching dances to ākonga. For her, watching students grow in confidence and enjoy the process of learning dance is incredibly rewarding.
Passions outside the classroom
Outside of school, Shannon enjoys reading, sewing and cooking. These hobbies allow her to unwind and be creative in her personal time.
For Shannon, home is filled with family, including her beloved cat, Tipsy, and the comforting smells of home-cooked meals. She loves how everything in her space is surrounded by greenery, from the plants to blankets and candles, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
