Year 3 and 4 Teacher
Sarah Ash brings a wealth of international teaching experience to her role as the Year 3 and 4 classroom teacher at Marsden Primary. With a passion for literacy and a dedication to fostering student-centred learning environments, Sarah has made significant contributions to the educational landscape.
Joining Marsden Primary in 2022, Sarah served as the literacy lead, spearheading Marsden’s introduction of Structured Literacy. Her expertise in literacy was honed through years of teaching internationally, including Beijing, Taipei, and Brussels. Notably, she was a founding teacher at the esteemed Western Academy of Beijing.
Experience
Sarah's journey in education began with her training at Wellington College of Education 'Te Whanau o Ako Pai o te Upoko o Te Ika' followed by the completion of her Bachelor of Education at Massey University. Additionally, she holds a Diploma of Teaching and is trained in Reading Recovery and ESOL teaching.
Beyond her formal education, Sarah has lived in China, Taiwan, Europe and the Solomon Islands where she home schooled her own children. With the ability to converse in Chinese and Melanesian Pijin English, her multicultural background adds depth to her approach.

Life outside school
Outside of school you’ll find Sarah, gardening, watching movies, playing strategy games, and cycling. Her home is a sanctuary where she enjoys the company of her husband of over 30 years, Paul, and the vibrant produce from her garden. With three adult children, their partners, and a grandchild, Sarah's home is filled with love and laughter.
