Director of Sport & Active Recreation
Rosie Kirkpatrick began her career post university at Marsden and we are thrilled she returned to us in 2023 as our Director of Sport & Active Recreation.
Working Background
Following her graduation from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Commerce, Rosie looked after Marsden’s Primary Sports as well as our whole school netball programme from 2015-2017. After leaving us she worked as Director of Sport at Onslow College for two years, then Athletics Canada in the High Performance team. On her return to New Zealand she joined Basketball New Zealand as their tournament director. When she saw Marsden advertising for a new Director of Sport & Active Recreation Rosie jumped at the opportunity to apply for what she considers her dream job. “I loved my time at Marsden. I love working with students, and the staff and parents at Marsden were wonderfully supportive during my time here. I'm very passionate about growing girls' sport within New Zealand, and ensuring students have the opportunity to be active doing something that they really enjoy.”
Philosophy and Goals
Marsden will benefit greatly from Rosie’s breadth of experience having worked with athletes from primary school right through to Olympic level. “I think sport and activity are such a vital part of life, not just for physical health but also for social and mental health. My goal is to create a lifelong love of sport for Marsden students.”
Away from Marsden
Rosie continues to play netball herself and also loves going for walks and spending time with her family.
