Louise Kleingeld is an English and Media teacher, Year 10 Dean, and Marsden’s Wellbeing Leader. She has been a part of the Marsden whānau for over a decade and brings a depth of expertise and dedication to her work.

Her tenure at Marsden began in the Primary School, where she spent five years teaching Years 3, 4, and 5. Louise moved to teach in the Middle and Senior Schools in 2015, where she helped to develop the transition process for students moving from Year 6 to Year 7. She worked as a Year 7 form teacher and then as a Year 12/13 tutor teacher, teaching courses ranging from English to Social Sciences and Media Studies.

Louise exemplifies a strong dedication to creating a sense of community and belonging at Marsden. She eagerly supports student-led initiatives and has been particularly involved in school productions, where she ensures that every student gets a chance to shine. Notably, she wrote and directed BroadERway a 2023 production designed to highlight the different skills and talents of Marsden students.

In addition, Louise has been instrumental in nurturing cultural competency and inclusivity within the school community. As the teacher-in-charge of Marsden’s Kapa Haka group since its inception in 2017, she takes immense pride in creating an environment where Māori and Pasifika students feel encouraged to excel.

I’m incredibly proud of the growth our kura has made when it comes to cultural competency, honouring Te Tiriti and providing an environment where our Māori and Pasifika students feel seen, safe and encouraged to be their best selves.

Hauora at Marsden

Louise is genuinely thrilled at the chance to assist young people in realising their own potential. She has a strong commitment to fostering students' wellness and hauora, and believes that education can transform people into self-assured, caring adults. Louise is Marsden’s Wellbeing Leader and has recently written and implemented the school’s holistic wellbeing approach.

I think young people are amazing, I take so much joy from my interactions with them, seeing them grow and find their way. …They tend to be open and accepting of others - and it genuinely gives me a sense of hope for the future.

Outside of School

Louise enjoys spending time with her family, taking long walks with her dogs, and indulging her passion for cooking. She is also actively involved as a local coordinator for Kura Kai, a role supported generously by Marsden.
