Sport and Active Recreation Coordinator
Jessica (Jess) Gill joined Marsden 2024 as the Sport and Active Recreation Coordinator for Years 1–8.
Originally from Dunedin, Jess graduated from Queen’s High School in 2019 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Sport Development and Management at the University of Otago in 2022. During her studies, an internship in the sports department inspired her to pursue a career in sports coordination.
Jess brings a wealth of coaching experience, with over 10 years dedicated to coaching netball. A highlight of her coaching career was leading a team to victory at the Junior South Island Secondary School Championships in 2023.
Before joining Marsden, she managed a busy café for two years, showcasing her strong organisational and leadership skills. Her move to Wellington in June 2024 provided the opportunity to pursue her passion for sports full-time.
Jess’s coaching philosophy is driven by her belief in the transformative power of sport to foster joy, friendships and values that support lifelong success. She is excited about expanding opportunities for Marsden sport and developing new initiatives in 2025.
Outside of work, Jess enjoys baking, exploring Wellington’s vibrant café scene, and staying connected with family. Originally from Dunedin, she has fond memories of sunset beach walks with her sister and family dog. Now settled in Wellington, she looks forward to creating new memories in her new home.
Jess holds a Bachelor of Science in Sport Development and Management, a National Certificate in Recreation and Sport (Coaching and Instruction) and a range of other coaching qualifications. She is passionate about sharing her love of sport with Marsden students and looks forward to making a lasting impact on the school’s sports programme.
