Digital Technology Teacher

Teaching role and expertise

Francis is a Digital Technology teacher, working with students from Years 8 to 13. His classes cover a broad range of subjects within the digital technology umbrella, including web design, robotics, digital animation, game development and coding. His goal is to equip students with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world and to support those considering careers in the field.

Journey to Marsden

Francis joined Marsden in 2025 after spending six-and-a-half years at South Wellington Intermediate, where he was a homeroom teacher and specialised in IT, Music, Science, and Health and Physical Education. Before that, he worked with Year 7 and 8 students at Thorndon School.

I’m always excited by the potential of new technologies and love helping students discover how these tools can shape their future.

Education and professional background

Francis initially studied Electronic Multimedia before shifting focus to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies. He later pursued a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching, which set him on the path to his teaching career.

Life outside the classroom

Beyond teaching, Francis enjoys learning new skills and keeping up with the latest technological advancements, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence. He also has a keen interest in health and fitness and loves exploring new places—both in New Zealand and overseas, with recent trips to Japan and Australia.

When he's not teaching, Francis enjoys walking in nature, reading thriller novels, spending time with family and friends, trying new recipes and playing the piano. He appreciates the tranquillity of home, surrounded by trees and natural beauty.
