Jessie Wong was only eleven when she learnt to sew. It was the first tentative step towards a career in fashion. Now, with a degree from Otago Polytechnic under her incredibly stylish belt, she’s the proud of owner of her own label, Yu Mei. As an experienced Creative Director Jessie is skilled in Photography, Public Speaking, Graphic Design, Art Direction, and Fashion Design.
Jessie's company Yu Mei is a leather goods label devoted to the creation of understated luxury based in Wellington. Yu Mei was the recipient of the NZ Light Leathers Supreme Award at Wellington Fashion Week, and showed at Shanghai Fashion Week in 2014. The brand was also the recipient of the 2014 AMP National Scholarship, Deloitte Fast 50 Rising Star, and presents annually at New Zealand Fashion Week.
Jessie's determination and drive to pursue her love of fashion is reflected in all that she does. She also generously shares her journey and experience with Marsden design technology students on a regular basis.
